WILLIAMS
Historic Route 66 town with the train to the Grand Canyon
SUGGESTED STAY LENGTH
3 nights if you want to do the train and Bearizona
MAP LINK:
CLIMATE: High mountain weather, warm dry summers, cool, windy fall, avg 74 inches of snow in winter.
NOTEWORTHY:
The town is arguably a tourist trap, but we remind you that the Route 66 towns always have been, so we enjoyed the classic vibe. Our favorite parts of this area though are Bearizona and the train to the Grand Canyon!
CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS
Pretty relaxed in most places, masks were optional for vaccinated people but some individual business have their own rules.

Food is more diner style in Williams, don't expect a lot of gourmet, and don't eat at the train station! ;)

SEDONA
If done right, Sedona is worth visiting in spite of it's over-popularity.
SUGGESTED STAY LENGTH
3 nights
MAP LINK:
CLIMATE: High desert, hot summers, crisp, mild fall weather and occasional snow sprinkles in the winter.
NOTEWORTHY:
Our recommendations for Sedona came from the trial and error of ending up in the tourist trap part of the town previously. Sedona is so rich with beauty and activity that you don't have to do do the popular touristy things to have an amazing experience.

Pretty relaxed in most places, masks were optional for vaccinated people but some individual business have their own rules.
PRICE RANGE: $269-$519/night

TOMBSTONE / BISBEE
These are some of the best kept secrets in AZ, because most people don't make it this far south.
SUGGESTIONS
These two towns are within half an hour of each other. We recommend choosing one for a night stay and making the other a day trip, or you can head straight to the one that intrigues you most and skip the other.
RECOMMENDED STAY: Pick one town, stay 2 nights
TOWN ETHOS
TOMBSTONE: Wild West everything, dirt roads, souvenir shops, old buildings and cheap beer
BISBEE: Art community, unique town layout, old mining town with a hip touch
NOTEWORTHY
Because most of their industry relies on tourism, a lot of businesses especially in Bisbee are closed during the week. If you want more shops and restaurants, plan this segment for the weekend days.
CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS
Relaxed, masks are optional in most businesses
